Synopsis:
In a picturesque Jiangnan ancient town, the beautiful and gentle Jinniang managed a small tailor shop, relying on it to support herself and her deaf daughter, Duo'er. She endured constant abuse from her husband, Zhou Zhengfu, as well as his infidelity and his scheme to use the homeless man Zhang Tianxiang to seduce her, all in an attempt to force her into an unconditional divorce.
After Zhang Tianxiang spent everything he had in an effort to cure Duo'er's deafness, Jinniang realized that this unexpected man had begun to break through the walls around her heart. When her husband filed for divorce, Jinniang silently consented. However, before the court's judgment was delivered, Zhou Zhengfu unexpectedly fell into a vegetative state due to an accident. Zhang Tianxiang pleaded with Jinniang to leave with him, but she remained stubbornly resolved to stay. It was only after Jinniang confided the secrets of her past that Zhang Tianxiang painfully realized that leaving her was the only way to truly save this helpless woman.
