The film tells the story of Bai Xue, a professional assassin from the KMT's Secret Bureau, codenamed "White Butterfly." In 1949, at a southern port city, she poses as the niece of Professor Ren Heng—a renowned weapons expert who had just secretly returned to China—and abducts him, escorting him northward.
Along the journey, she is pursued by various reactionary forces. Meanwhile, CCP security agent Ren Yulan and Korean martial arts teacher Park Woo coordinate efforts to intervene. After intense struggles, they successfully protect Professor Ren and ensure his safe arrival in Beiping (Beijing). Overcome with shame at her failure, Bai Xue ultimately takes her own life.
